Data Matrix Direct Part Marking

Data Matrix (DMx) is a 2-dimensional barcode which gives lifetime traceability for components. Total traceability means dramatic improvements to process and quality control. Human error is removed as the code is machine readable. The codes are much smaller than traditional barcodes yet contain much greater amounts of information. The cells of the code are made up of square or round modules which can encode letters, numbers, text and graphics. Industries using this process at the moment include Aerospace, Automotive and Medical.

DMX symbols require a reader or verifier. The readers are capable of reading low contrast marks, damaged codes and even codes on damaged surfaces. The software contains sophisticated algorithms for error correction when reading low quality or damaged marks. The verifier is an advanced imaging system that verifies DMx symbols.

Dot Marker (Dot Peen)
Also know as dot peen/rapid indent

Data Matrix using POD

Uses 'Metaletch' power unit as power source together with POD software and thermal printer
Using our Print on Demand system to generate DMx codes produces a very high contrast mark
Marks can be read using a reader or verifier
Ideal for small cylindrical parts as well as large fabrications
Fixed and hand held models available to suit the application
Ideal for marking applications such aircraft components, automotive parts, surgical instruments as well as many other industrial applications

Reading & Verifying Data Matrix Codes
We supply a range of readers and verifiers which are capable of reading marks in any manufacturing environment even if they are damaged, on high gloss or highly textured surfaces.
