We are pleased to be launching a new initiative, 'Helping Others', here at UMS, to support staff who embark on challenges to raise funds for charities and those less fortunate than ourselves. As a company we will make a donation to our employee's chosen charity when they get involved in fundraising through an event or specific challenge. In this way we hope to be able to support a number of charities.
Sara Sawdy, co-owner of the business, is kicking off the initiative with a challenging horse trek across the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Spain at the end of May to raise funds for The British Horse Society Welfare work which works tirelessly to help neglected horses as well as other related projects.
I will be travelling to Malaga, Spain on 30th May 2015, meeting up with the rest of the party, and then heading north to the Las Alpujarras which are located on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The first day I will meet my Andalusian horse and the following 7 days I will be trekking across the mountains, riding for approximately 6 hours a day to cover 240km over the 7 day period.
If you would like to support me in my fundraising challenge, I would be very grateful for any donation you may wish to give – every penny counts. I will post a full review of the challenge when I get back.
